Autism Partnership 5th Annual Conference on ABA Principles and Effective Teaching Methods

Children with autism learn differently. They might not have adequate and fundamental motivation to learn individually. They also find it difficult to learn in a group setting. In order to facilitate effective teaching strategies, ABA principles and key foundations are established to enable the child to pick up the skills taught, generalize skills in various settings and people as well as maximize potential through natural and fun teaching. This event will feature didactic teaching, demonstration and panel discussion by our experienced and accomplished behavioral consultants.

Following a Child’s Journey and Progress Over Time

Description:

Mr. Stevens Lo will discuss the effectiveness of ABA and highlight its core elements. He will demonstrate the progress of AP students who have been receiving progressive ABA treatment approach. Other important elements for successful treatment, including sound clinical judgement, active parent involvement, intensive supervision and ongoing staff training will also be discussed.

Stevens Lo, MSocSc, BCBA – Autism Partnership Behavioral Consultant


Mr. Lo is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a Master of Social Sciences in Mental Health from The University of Hong Kong. He joined Autism Partnership in 2005 and began working directly with clients in one-to-one, social group and school settings.

Since 2010, Stevens has been providing overseas consultations to families in Australia, Indonesia, Philippines and South Africa on a regular basis. Apart from providing consultations, he has also been conducting trainings and workshops for professionals in those countries.

Mr. Lo is currently a Behavioral Consultant in Hong Kong office. In addition to providing supervision to individual cases, he is also responsible for providing trainings and conducting local workshops for parents and other fellow professionals.

Using ABA Principles in Group Teaching

Description:

Ms. Catherine Tam will present how to use ABA principles to teach and manage students with ASD and developmental disabilities in group. Through videos and examples, Catherine will discuss the application of reinforcement in group, managing behaviors in group, identifying learning-how-to-learn skills and formulating and teaching individual goals.

Catherine Tam , MSc, BCBA – Autism Partnership Behavioral Consultant


Ms. Tam holds a Master of Science in Applied Behavioral Analysis and is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. She joined Autism Partnership in 2005 and began working as a Program Specialist. She has extensive experience with children and teenagers with autism in one-on-one and group settings. Currently, she is responsible for providing individual ABA therapy and counselling to teenagers and young adults with ASD, supervising individual cases in Hong Kong, and providing professional training and consultation to families in Mainland China.
